The first of China Airlines’  25 Airbus A321neo, took off on its maiden service from Taoyuan to Hong Kong yesterday Sunday March 27th. Flight CI909 left Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport after receiving the traditional water salute by the emergency services team, bound for Hong Kong at 10:24 a.m. LT.

According to China Airlines, the newest addition to their fleet, will be flying two daily passenger or cargo-only return flights on the route. To mark the occasion, passengers onboard the maiden flight, were given commemorative bags to celebrate the introduction of the plane, which China AIrlines said will be slowly rolled out to other destinations such as Yangon, Palau and Manila.

Starting May 4, the airliner will be working Alison on China Airlines Songshan-Tokyo route every Wednesday and Saturday. The New A321neo, will become the airline’s future workhorse with its 12 Business seats and 168 economy seats which feature fully reclinable seats in Business Class and a state-of-the-art entertainment system with 4K high resolution displays.

China Airlines boasts that their new A321neo are 15-20 percent more fuel efficient than the previous generation of the European narrow body aircraft. For China Airlines right now size does matter, and the long fuselage of the A321neo will allow the carrier to emphasize even more on their cargo operations.

China Airlines has a total order of 25 A321neo, three of which have already been delivered, with a further seven more pending from delivery sometime this year. The new types will surely place the carrier at a vantage point to compete against the rest of the operators in the region with a younger fleet and generating savings from its lower fuel consumption.
