La batalla aérea de la WWII cantada por Iron Maiden

¿Amante de la aviación y del metal? Seguro conoces “Aces High” de la banda británica Iron Maiden. La canción escrita por Steve Harris describe la historia de un Piloto británico de la Royal Air Force en plena guerra contra Alemania en 1940. La batalla de Inglaterra como es conocida, fue una serie de combates aéreos sobre Reino Unido y el canal de la Mancha. Durante esta serie de eventos, la Luftwaffe buscaba demostrar su superioridad aérea y derrotar a la RAF para poder invadir Gran Bretaña. De acuerdo con algunos registros, la Luftwaffe contaba con más de 300 aeronaves de combate mientras que la Royal Air Force disponía de solo 871. Durante la Batalla de Inglaterra destacaron aeronaves como el Hawker Hurricane, el Supermarine Spitfire, el bombardero alemán Do 17.

No obstante, los alemanes fueron abatidos por los británicos. De esa manera los Aliados pudieron avanzar hacia Europa y eventualmente derrotar al Ejército Alemán. Esta historia es contada por Iron Maiden e incluso, en algunas presentaciones la precede un discurso de Winston Churchill.  Conoce la letra de esta histórica -en todos sentidos- canción de Iron Maiden.
